Our Childline service is there to give young people a voice when no one else is listening. Whatever problems or dangers they’re facing, we’re a place for them to turn for support – any time of day or night.

Our trained Childline counsellors are there for young people 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Talking to Childline can be the first step that gets a child's life back on track. And young people can get help and support with any issue they're going through, no matter how big or small.

Childline offers help and support to thousands of children and young people whenever they need us, thanks to counsellors like Sarah.
Supporting deaf children and young people
We're committed to being there for every child who needs us. Childline has a range of advice and resources for children who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing.
This includes a SignVideo service which allows children and young people to contact a Childline counsellor via an interpeter.

Volunteer for Childline
Colin Butler has been volunteering since Childline opened in October 1986. Colin sat with a small group of volunteers wondering whether anyone was going to call.
They soon got their answer. Over 50,000 children jammed the phone lines that night, desperate for someone to talk to. Over the years we've been indebted to wonderful people like him, giving their time and energy to ensure we can be there for children.

A child contacts Childline every 25 seconds and, right now, we aren't able to respond to 1 in 3 children who need our help. But you can help make sure we respond to every one.
Just 4 hours out of your week can help thousands of children and young people in a variety of roles. Sometimes all they need is someone like you who has the time to listen.
30 years of Childline
Main concern: bullying
Launched childline.org.uk offering help and advice to children online for the first time. In 2014-15 the Childline website received over 3.2 million visits.
Main concern: low self-esteem and unhappiness
Zipit was launched - our first ever app. Zipit helps children and young people get flirty chat back on the right track. It's packed with killer comebacks and top tips to help people stay in control of their chat game.

In 241,523 of these counselling sessions they talked about their own concerns and in 8,758 they contacted us with concerns they had for another child or young person (third party concerns). The most common concern was mental/emotional health, followed by family relationships and suicidal thoughts or feelings.
